| This DVD is issued on 24th April (2006) and is a double DVD set. Night Watch is the first film in a Trilogy directed by Timur Bekmambetov, often referred to as the "Russian Tarantino" and these are inspired by the two books (a Dilogy!) written by Sergei Lukyanenko. You can find his website at www.rusf.ru/lukian/english/ and, if your Russian is up to it, actually read the two books. The three films offer a departure from the current direction in horror/vampire movies and this has been covered in a previous review. The DVD set comprises two discs, with the first containing the original Russian version and an English dubbed version. My personal favourite is the theatrical version on the second disc which is presented with the original subtitles which themselves introduced some weird effects. The second disc contains extra deleted scenes and featurettes on the making of the films, along with some previews of the ones yet to come. Bonuses on the first disc include commentaries from the director and the original writer, plus some "Broken Saints" Prophecy stuff (the animated comic epic). There is a stunning trailer for this at bs.brokensaints.com. | ||||||||||
