committee meeting feb 7th 2004

Minutes for Committee Meeting held 7th February 2004, at the Ben Crouch 2 p.m.

Matters arising from AGM : none

Events:
1. Mad March Party at the London Stone on March 20th Disco, raffle, dressing up - we have some wine from V-Drinks as prizes!! Tickets £2 members, £5 non members, theme to be Scientists, Doctors, Patients, Inmates. Tickets to be available on Thursday's meeting (MB and SS)
2. Quiz Night on April 3rd at the Cittie of Yorke - everyone to push tickets for this. Investigate special menu for this event, e.g. g(h)oulash? (MB)
3. July - a Hellraiser Party (MB)
4. In last week of November a not Whitby party i.e. Halloween (likely to be big) (MB)
5. Xmas party on a Neil Gaiman inspired theme (MB)
6. A pre Romania get together (MS) NB MS suggests website address goes on all leaflets and tickets.

Bulletin: model version available, some modifications suggested this to go out to members by 13th Feb as a Valentine's Special. (TD and SS)

Magazine: article deadline by end of Feb, to be printed second week of March. (BP)
Advertising to be investigated (MS)
Hotmail account for editor to be renewed ca £20 (MS or SC)

Treasurer's Report:
LVG - no info (LB)
VE - account to be transferred to SC by end of month (SC)

Any other business:
1. advertising: V- Drinks for magazine, also chances for promotional activity with mutual benefits for us and advertisers. (MS)
2. VEIN egroup - several people are fed up with cliquey/trivial chat - moderator wants to drop out, so what do we do? Decided to ask for more advice. If Mick takes over, limit emails to one per member per day. (MS)
3. Future of the LVG - SC presented a discussion paper which is quite far reaching for the committee and the organisation - a discussion on the implications. Decided to a) propose committee changes at the next committee meeting (SC and SS) b) propose constitutional changes at AGM in September (SC and SS)
4. POBox - this is giving problems and we now have some evidence to confront the PO with. We will write to demand an improvement (MS) and seek out another PO box (SC)
